Brazil: Multiplying Churches
Many evangelical churches in Brazil start small, meeting in homes, under a carport, or in someone’s yard to study the Bible. Eventually, a physical church property becomes necessary for the growth and health of a church. In Brazilian culture, a property also gives legitimacy to the church in the eyes of the community.
The difficulty is that small churches of twenty-five members or less cannot come up with the funds necessary to purchase a property on their own. This hinders growth in many churches throughout Brazil today.
We desire to see churches across Brazil grow and become healthy, reproducing congregations that glorify God. As part of the body of Christ, we have the opportunity to partner with our brothers and sisters in Brazil to see this happen.
Through this project Avant will provide up to 50% of the funds needed to purchase a property for as many as twenty church plants in Brazil. Local churches will then be required to raise the other 50%.
Avant has been given $100,000 as a matching grant. With this matching grant and with church plants raising 50% of the funds, every gift to this project will be multiplied by four. A gift of $25 becomes $100 toward the purchase of a church property. A gift of $50 becomes $200 to help expand the church in Brazil.
