Spain: Camp Solar Installation
This project is now fully funded. Thank you!
It has always been difficult to be a follower of Jesus in Spain. Through the centuries, evangelicals have faced much persecution and distrust. Today, only about 1% of Spain’s population believes the gospel.
Springs of Life camp, located in southern Spain, has been serving pastors, churches, and youth in the community for over 40 years. The large facilities and various activities offered at the camp draw churches and retreat groups to spend time at Springs of Life throughout the year. The camp is a place where believers are equipped, encouraged, and further enabled to be a light in a spiritually dark place.
It is a major expense and undertaking to keep the camp facilities updated and running smoothly. The camp is self-sustaining, but as costs rise, we are looking for ways to save money while also keeping the camp financially accessible for those who wish to attend and use the facilities.
In the last year especially, the cost of electricity in Spain has risen 140%. In order to keep these retreats, camps, and events accessible and cost effective for participants, Springs of Life plans to install solar panels. These panels will be placed on the roof of the dining hall, which will affect the entire electric grid at the camp. Solar panels have already been installed on the farmhouse to provide hot water, and they have proven to be a large savings in operative costs. Since this area of Spain receives sunshine most of the year, the camp will be able to greatly decrease its electricity costs.
Your financial investment in this project will help Springs of Life keep admission costs low so that more people can be encouraged and equipped at the camp to spread the light of Christ and impact Spain for Him.
