Introducing Our Next President

Phil O'Day

“We look forward to the integrity of heart and skillfulness of hands (Psalm 78:72) that characterizes Phil,
as he serves with others in planting developing churches where there is no church.”

- Todd Gladman, Board Chairman

We are excited to announce the Board of Directors for Avant Ministries has appointed Phil O’Day as the organization’s next President, effective January 1, 2023. Phil will take office after Scott Holbrook’s retirement at the end of the year.

“I couldn’t be more pleased with the results of the process. I am excited to move into retirement knowing that the mission leadership is in good hands,” said Holbrook.

Phil is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute and Columbia International University Seminary and School of Missions. He and his wife, Lori, have a long history with the organization. This summer, they celebrated the milestone of 30 years of service with the mission, having joined CAM International (which later became Camino Global) in 1992. They served as church planters in Mexico City before being called to the Dallas home office in 2002. During his time there, Phil served in multiple roles including Director of Mobilization, Director of Organizational Development and Communication, and Executive Vice President/COO. At the time of the Camino merger, he was the Integration Director, facilitating the logistics of uniting both organizations. Since then, he has served as Avant’s US Director and Vice President of Public Ministries.

The O'Days currently live near Avant's headquarters in Kansas City, MO. They have three young adult children. Lori teaches Spanish at a local high school.
