SETECA: Student Record Optimization

Project #71985
Global Latin America Theological Education

SETECA (Central American Theological Seminary) was founded by the Central American Mission (now Avant Ministries) almost 95 years ago. SETECA exists to form disciples of Jesus who embody the gospel, communicate the Scriptures, and exercise servant leadership. It is one of the largest evangelical seminaries in Latin America, educating nearly 1,000 students from around 25 nationalities per year. Graduates of SETECA have been building up the church for decades through a variety of ministries in some 35 countries around the world.

Because of the diversity of nationalities in the student body, and the different program focuses and degrees offered, having convenient access to detailed records is crucial. There are almost 20,000 student and alumni records being stored as physical files at SETECA. While these records are currently available for use, it is extremely difficult to keep such a large volume of files organized and easily accessible. This information needs to be preserved and stored electronically in an efficient format that is easy to navigate.

This project includes preparing, cataloging, and scanning all student records, a sum of around 450,000 pieces of paper, into a digital format. Once digital copies of these records are organized and readily available for use, the seminary registrar will be able to find and distribute pertinent information as needed.

Avant is seeking to raise $23,400 to complete this project. Your gift will aid in providing an excellent service to students and alumni; leaders who go on to lead, support, and serve in existing churches, and plant new ones all over the world.
