What is an Unreached People Group?

“An unreached people is a people group among which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelize this people group without outside assistance.”

How many people in our world are living without Jesus?

No statistic is perfect. Of course. However, we trust studies done by Joshua Project and Operation World to give us a glimpse into the BILLIONS that have no church, or Christians, in their communities.

Missions—like every business, hobby, or sport—has its own lingo. Its own “hot topics,” if you will. The missions term for these people groups who have never heard the gospel is “Unreached.”

According to the Joshua Project, “An unreached or least-reached people is a people group among which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelize this people group without outside assistance.”

You will also hear the term “Unengaged People Group.” These people are unreached with the gospel, but we also know that there is “no known active church planting underway” in their country.

At Avant Ministries we have a passion to reach the 3+ BILLION Unreached People with the gospel of Christ. Through church planting, education, business, media, and more our missionaries are proclaiming the name of Jesus where it has not been heard before. Is the Lord calling you to GO, GIVE, or PRAY for missions?
